Business Management professor Jared Emard loves Oregon Tech and the Southern Oregon region. Growing up in Chiloquin, Jared was homeschooled and learned the construction trade from his father. At 16, he started taking classes at OIT and graduated with degrees in Operations Management and Marketing with a minor in International Business. When he is not teaching, Jared enjoys constructing homes and spending time with his wife, Tamara, oldest daughter, Iva, and twins, Elliot and Eleanor (Nora).

In a show of support for first-generation students attending Oregon Tech, the university recently participated in the nationwide First-Generation College Celebration. First-generation college students are those whose parents or legal guardians have not completed a bachelor's degree.
