History: For those who have never heard of silent discos, the concept has been around since an AstroBoy comic in 1967, and was used by eco-activists in the early 1990s at outdoor parties to minimize noise pollution and disturbance to the local wildlife (@ environmental science majors 👀).

We had a great time at our Carnival in the Commons yesterday! Students played carnival style games, learned about services and upcoming events, enjoyed hotdogs and popcorn, and had a chance to spin to win if they filled out their cards by visiting all the stations! 🎪🎈🌭🍿 #oregontech #oregontechportlandmetro

This Monday, January 16th, Oregon Tech will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) was one of many, many real influential people who have fought and continue the fight for racial justice and equity in our country. As much as we struggle to concoct a caption that dignifies his life’s work, the truth is Dr. King’s legacy cannot be summed up in digestible textbook quotes or cartoon photos alone.

Matthew Tugg is a student from Oregon Tech Portland-Metro who traveled to Cebu Philippines to help install solar panels in areas impacted by Typhoon Rai. A graduate of Oregon Tech’s Renewable Energy Engineering program, Tugg is currently completing his master’s degree in Robotics, Automation, and Control Engineering. In December 2021, Typhoon Rai, known in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Odette, reached Category 5 and became one of the costliest typhoons in the Philippines’ history.
