Oregon Tech and Faculty Union reach tentative agreement on the inaugural contract

A five-year contract was agreed between Oregon Tech and its Faculty Union early Tuesday morning (May 4, 2021). Both parties came to terms after 1 year, 4 months and 28 days of negotiations. Inaugural contracts are known to take a very long time to come to fruition, and these negotiations vastly occurred during a global pandemic.

SmartAsset Lists Oregon Tech as Best Value College in Oregon

Personal finance company SmartAsset has released its 2021 report of the Best Value Colleges in the U.S., with a degree from Oregon Institute of Technology noted as the highest value for your dollar of any college or university in Oregon.

According to the study, Oregon Tech graduates receive an average starting salary of $63,100, which is the highest in the Oregon rankings. The average starting salary for all Oregon higher education graduates is $53,308.

University Leadership Provide Response to Faculty Senate

To address the Faculty Senate’s call for Oregon Tech President, Dr. Nagi Naganathan to resign, senior leadership submitted a response to the Faculty Senate-approved report.

In a continued effort to increase awareness and create a more welcoming and inviting work and learning environment, Oregon Tech is searching for an Executive Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Cultural Engagement (DICE). The University is conducting a national search for this new leadership position, which will report to President Naganathan.

Negotiations between Oregon Institute of Technology’s (Oregon Tech) administration and faculty union (Oregon Tech American Association of University Professors (OT-AAUP)) have stalled. As a result, the university is declaring an impasse in the negotiations.
