Celebrating Students
Oregon Tech students deserve recognition for their achievements, dedication and service. Any Faculty, Administrator, Staff, or Student may submit a student award nomination letter. You may nominate multiples students for the same award or one student for several, and a student may nominate him or herself.
Portland-Metro Student Awards
2023-2024 Nomination Cycle
There are four distinct awards for Portland-Metro Students: The Outstanding Academic Achievement Award, the Outstanding Community Service Award, Outstanding Student Involvement Award, and Graduate Student Achievement Award.
Nominations:
Please submit a letter of nomination for each student nominee.
Indicate the student’s name and for which student award you are nominating the person. Clearly state how the student meets the student award criteria and why you are nominating the person for this award. Nomination is only considered for that specific award and not for others; however, you may nominate a student for more than one award with a separate nomination letter. Include a paragraph or sentence explaining how you know the person you are writing about and the nature of your relationship with them. Also include an evaluation of the student’s skills and accomplishments.

Portland-Metro Awards Nominations are due at midnight on March 20, 2024 to Debbie Kerr at the Portland-Metro Student Services: Office 138 or by email to portland@oit.edu.
Letter of Recommendations:
It is highly encouraged by the Student Awards Commission that the student seeks at least one recommendation letter (no more than 5) from a student, staff, faculty, friend, or community member. The letter should express their support for the student award nomination with a few points from the above award criteria.

Student Biography
Nominees will be asked to complete a Student Biography form that will include the student's accomplishments in the judging criteria for the specific award.

Portland-Awards Student Biography Form is due at midnight on April 17, 2024.
Recognition:
Winners will receive a plaque with their name and award engraved. Winners names will also be added to the Student Awards plaques on campus. All nominees will receive certificates. Winners and nominees will be celebrated via Oregon Tech social media outlets.

How to Nominate a Student
Meet with the student to inform him/her of your desire to complete a Student Award Nomination.
