Strategic Enrollment Management & Retention

The Associate Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management & Retention oversees the administration of the SEMR division. SEMR encompasses comprehensive planning and resource alignment processes aimed at increasing student success by identifying barriers and improving operations, promoting university-wide dialogue and collaboration and enhancing growth and revenue, while serving stakeholders and fulfilling the mission, vision, core values, and goals of the university.

The SEMR division includes the offices of Academic Advising & Retention, Admissions, Educational Partnerships and Outreach, and Financial Aid. Collectively, these four departments align the services and support that cover the entire enrollment spectrum at Oregon Tech.

SEMR Goals

SEMR has outlined the following goals in the Academic Master Plan:

1. Enrollment

Increase on-campus and online engagement with more prospective students each year for the next five years
Review and develop opportunities for international student pipelines
Strengthen STEM education K-12 initiatives
Serve the academic needs and ensure the success of all students

2. Student Support

Develop an innovative first-year experience for all students aligned with our polytechnic mission
Improve and promote relationship and community through mentorship and events

3. Retention

Increase high-impact practices for retention
Increase the four-year degree completion rate
Review and implementation of best practices at various levels

Academic Advising & Retention

The Academic Advising & Retention (RET) office serves all Oregon Tech students in different capacities as they progress through their degree at Oregon Tech. Program faculty advisors assist students with course content and planning, while RET secondary advisors assist with general advising, finding and utilizing campus resources effectively, and navigating the university.

Admissions

The Admissions office oversees student recruitment initiatives and provides support to prospective and admitted students and their families. The office is the gateway for matriculation into the university.

Educational Partnerships and Outreach

The Office of Educational Partnerships and Outreach cultivates and maintains partnerships with area high schools and connects faculties, community colleges, and universities to provide increased educational opportunities and resources for students.

Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Office provides high-quality service to all Oregon Tech students, their families and the community. Financial Aid personnel strive to provide accurate information on a complex topic that enables students to make decisions regarding educational funding.

SEMR Marketing

Strategic Enrollment Management & Retention employs a SEMR Marketing Specialist (SMS) to assist Academic Affairs and SEMR faculty and staff in project design and procurement of swag items and recruitment materials. The SMS works in tandem with the Admissions Office and Marketing, Communications, and Public Affairs (MarCoPa) to ensure all designed items are brand approved, so the overall voice of Oregon Tech remains strong and consistent in all recruitment efforts.
