A Little Bit About Me
I am originally from Newcastle, Australia, and moved to Klamath Falls around July 2022. I have lived on the east coast of Australia my entire life and love going to the beach, playing sports, and being social. My current academic interest is Medical Imaging Technology as I have always wanted to work in the healthcare system and love to help people. I play soccer at Oregon Tech and am a starting defender for the team. I have loved every minute of my time at Oregon Tech and in Klamath Falls, and have built lifelong friendships and created awesome memories which I am forever grateful for. Oregon Tech has given me a lot and allowed me to really develop myself personally living away from home and really grow as a person.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I chose Oregon Tech due to its strong academics, close-knit community, and its successful soccer program. I originally began the year in Bio-Health Sciences as I was unsure of what degree I wanted to study after moving from Australia to America. Since living here, I learned through professors and friends who were studying Pre-MIT and friends who were in certain programs about how it would be a great fit for me.
My Influential Professors
I would say all of my professors have been influential in certain aspects of my life. A professor in particular who really helped me a lot over the first two terms was Indy Recker. Professor Recker has been there for me since my first class where I had her as a wiring professor. Professor Recker always provided a highly positive classroom environment and always made me and the other students in the class feel comfortable and confident when participating in lessons. Professor Recker also created a great dynamic where she would be a role model to us if we had any issues both inside and outside of the classroom.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
Throughout my short time at Oregon Tech as a freshman, I have brought a lot of unique qualities to my studies. Growing up my entire life in Australia, I have had various different life experiences. Since moving to Oregon Tech, I have developed strong leadership qualities, helped create a sense of belonging for all students and become a highly motivated and independent individual. This has helped tremendously in my studies, allowed me to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout my first two terms, and learn valuable life lessons.
My Plans After Graduation
My plans for the future are to use my MIT degree to work within the healthcare system in hospitals. I have always loved helping people and MIT is a great way I can have a positive influence on someone's life. I also plan to continue to stay within the sport of soccer as I have played it from such a young age, and it has provided me with many life lessons and great experiences.
