A Little Bit About Me
I graduated from Enterprise High School in May of 2021. Growing up in rural Eastern Oregon I have grown a strong passion for agriculture as well as supporting my community. Because of this, I was involved in 4-H, FFA, Rodeo, and Student Council, as well as being a rodeo queen for two rodeo courts. Throughout all of these experiences and leadership roles, I found my passion for helping people. This led to my future career choice of becoming a dental hygienist. I chose Oregon Tech to pursue my dreams of becoming a dental hygienist and have found so much passion and success in this career choice so far. I can't wait to see what my future holds.
Why I Chose Oregon Tech and My Major
I have always been very passionate about helping people, so when it came to choosing a major, I knew that the healthcare field was meant for me. When I job shadowed at a few dental offices, it immediately clicked, and I knew that it was what I was meant to do. When I started talking to hygienists about what school they recommended, they immediately said Oregon Tech. Everyone couldn't say enough good things about it.
My Influential Professors
All of my professors here at Oregon Tech have been amazing. Each of them are dedicated to helping their students achieve not only in school but in life as well. In particular, Darlene Swigart has been very influential to me. She works so hard to not only provide the best education to dental hygiene students but also setting us up for success in the long run. I strive to obtain her work ethic and genuine personality. She always goes above and beyond for her students and is very dedicated to giving the best education that she can.
My Greatest Learning Experience At Oregon Tech
Coming to Oregon Tech truly changed my life. Moving away from my hometown all by myself helped me grow tremendously as a person. Learning how to advocate for myself, new time and money management skills, as well as learning to make new friends all contributed to this growth. Oregon Tech has not only educated me through my studies but also made me into a better person.
My Plans After Graduation
After graduating from Oregon Tech as a registered Dental Hygienist, I plan to move back to my hometown to serve the community that has shaped me into the person I am today. I'm looking forward to my future and can't wait to contribute to the community's overall health.
