Cold noses and warm kisses. Who doesn’t love to play with a pup? Take a few minutes from your day and de-stress. As the academic year comes to a close, Oregon Institute of Technology’s Integrated Student Health Center once again presents Pet a Pup on Wednesday, June 1st, and Thursday, June 2nd, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Mt. Mazama Room on the second floor of the College Union. This event is free and open to everyone.
Therapy dogs from Angels in Whiskers, Inc., will come to the Oregon Tech Klamath Falls Campus for students, faculty, staff, and even off-campus visitors to play with, cuddle up to, and genuinely enjoy petting.
This is the second year of the program at OIT and Jim Pittman, Director of the Integrated Student Health Center at OIT, says that the program is always a hit. “We were looking for a way to help everyone alleviate the usual stress that comes with the end of the term. I read about the success other schools had with the program, so being a dog-lover myself, I thought it would be a great way for students to relax, laugh, and enjoy themselves. It’s a really positive way to relieve stress.”
Angels in Whiskers, Inc. is a grass-roots therapy dog organization in Klamath Falls, Oregon that is making its way through the doors of many facilities in the county. All dogs in the program are certified therapy dogs that have completed training. Angels in Whiskers, Inc. is a volunteer program which has grown to over 30 teams in the Klamath Falls area.
