The Pacific Power Foundation recently presented a check for $4,000 to Oregon Institute of Technology to be used for scholarships for first generation engineering students who attend Oregon Tech and who are from locations within the Pacific Power service area.
“As a first generation college graduate myself, I understand how making the transition to college, finding the funding, and staying on track to graduation can be challenging. It’s a new world to navigate for the student and their family. The importance of scholarships such as the Pacific Power Foundation Scholarship is paramount for students to know that not only do they have help in funding their education, but others believe in their ability and support their goals,” said Robin Thompson, Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs at Oregon Tech. “We are truly grateful to the Pacific Power Foundation for their continued, generous support of Oregon Tech students.”
This is the second year that the Pacific Power Foundation has presented Oregon Tech funding for first generation engineering scholarships at Oregon Tech.
The Pacific Power Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Pacific Power. The organization’s mission is to support the growth and vitality of communities they serve through charitable investments. Since 1988, the Foundation has awarded more than $52.7 million to nonprofit organizations, of which more than $1.8 million was awarded in 2011.
