Oregon Tech was ranked among the best schools in the nation in Forbes’ annual list of Top Colleges. The rankings list 500 schools – the top 20% of all four-year and graduate universities in the nation – with Oregon Tech listed at No. 393 overall and No. 186 in Public Colleges.
According to Forbes, the annual list showcases 500 schools that produce successful, high-earning and influential graduates from all economic backgrounds, with less student debt.
U.S. colleges and universities were ranked this year based on alumni salary, debt, graduation rate, leadership and entrepreneurial success of a college’s graduates, return on investment, retention rate, and academic success. According to the rankings, schools placed well if their students graduated on time, secured high salaries and low debt, and went on to have successful careers.
Data is collected from sources such as The College Scorecard and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, two federal databases that track student outcomes and institutional characteristics. They also drew from Payscale, a salary reporting and comparison company; Third Way, a D.C.-based think tank that developed the price-to-earnings premium; and the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics.
