How do you connect with that dream employer? What are the tips to get noticed in the crowd and what are the professional networking techniques that help professionals advance in their career?
Answers to these questions and other professional etiquette skills will be the focus when Oregon Institute of Technology’s Career Services sponsors an evening of “Networking and Professional Etiquette” on February 9, 2012, featuring entrepreneur, author, and innovator, Taryn Voget, CEO of Everyday Genius Institute.
Taryn Voget is an entrepreneur, business adviser, speaker, author and adventuress. She is the CEO & Co-Founder of the Everyday Genius Institute, an education company that teaches people the thinking strategies of geniuses. Voget began her career with Accenture and for 13 years thrived as a high-end management consultant helping the best companies in the world define, streamline and improve their business processes. She has worked with companies such as Disney, Gap, Genentech and the US Postal Service. At age 29 she started her own successful management consulting firm and amassed a client roster of Fortune 100 and start-up companies.

Jan Goodyear, recruitment manager says, “Students are often interviewed and screened in social settings and these skills are not typically acquired in the classroom. Each year we plan an event to provide students an opportunity to simulate a social function where prospective employers may be screening for acceptable applicants.”
Participants will enjoy a catered, four-course meal and receive tips on how to handle social networking events from table hosts. Chip Massie, executive director of the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce, will lead the social hour.
