With the recent processing delay associated with changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Oregon Tech is extending its May 1 enrollment deposit deadline to June 1 to allow students adequate time to evaluate financial aid options.

The FAFSA processing delay has affected institutions nationwide, and as a result, the release of financial aid award packages is anticipated to be delayed until mid-April, at the earliest.

Oregon Tech Provost Dr. Joanna Mott stated, "We recognize the impact that this FAFSA processing delay may have on our students' decision-making process. Our commitment is to ensure students have the necessary information to make informed choices about their education. Extending the enrollment deposit deadline provides students with the time they need to carefully consider their options."

Under the revised schedule, May 1 will serve as the early bird deposit date, with enrollment deposits remaining refundable until June 1. However, due to high demand for on-campus housing, the May 1 housing deadline will remain unchanged. Students seeking guaranteed on-campus housing are encouraged to submit their housing application and deposit by May 1, with housing deposits refundable until Aug. 15.

Oregon Tech is closely monitoring the FAFSA situation and remains dedicated to keeping students informed as developments unfold.

“We are committed to ensuring students get their financial aid packages as soon as possible, and that they are able to make informed decisions about the cost of their college education,” Provost Mott said.
