Oregon Institute of Technology held a “wall-breaking ceremony” on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the university’s new Wilsonville campus to kick off the renovation of the recently purchased building. Oregon Tech President Chris Maples, Ph.D. lead a delegation of dignitaries in swinging sledge hammers into a wall slated to come down during renovation.
Oregon Tech hosted the Wilsonville Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon meeting at the new campus where Maples was the featured speaker. Maples discussed the consolidation of the university’s multiple Portland sites into one central location, shared the vision for the new Wilsonville campus, and talked about the synergy between industry partners in the area and the university’s new location.
Oregon Tech officially took possession of the former InFocus headquarters on September 1, 2011. The university has begun renovation of the building and will start offering classes there in Fall 2012. The Wilsonville campus is located at 27500 SW Parkway, Wilsonville.
Oregon Institute of Technology has maintained a presence in Portland for nearly 30 years with four locations in the metro area, including campuses in Clackamas at Harmony Road and in Beaverton at AmberGlen Court.
Chris Maples stated that there are many benefits to the Wilsonville location. “The Wilsonville Campus will be a dynamic environment where faculty, students, and staff connect with industry partners to collaborate on innovative technical solutions and develop highly qualified graduates who address real-world challenges.
