Funds to support scholarships for first generation students

Oregon Institute of Technology was awarded a $3,000 grant from the Pacific Power Foundation to support an engineering scholarship for a student who is the first in his or her family to pursue a college degree.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be full-time students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Other criteria include: a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, U.S. citizenship, satisfactory academic progress and financial need. Another important criterion is residency in a community served by the Pacific Power Foundation: Oregon, Washington or California.

“The Pacific Power Foundation allocates grants to organizations that best serve community interests,” said Toby Freeman, Pacific Power regional community manager. “The Oregon Institute of Technology engineering scholarship program is a great opportunity for students and we are proud to help invest in their future.”
