Six members of the Oregon Institute of Technology Respiratory Therapy class and their clinical instructor Breanna Bennett RRT participated in the Sky Lakes Medical Center's Annual Community Health Fair Saturday March 6, 2010.

The students used four new machines that measure lung function and blood oxygen saturation, which helps trained therapists evaluate patients' health conditions. OIT purchased these machines for health screening and training. The students performed 146 pulmonary function tests and measured 140 Carbon Monoxide levels. The students also provided education to clients regarding their test results. Jim Harris RRT, Cardiopulmonary Manager of Sky Lakes Medical Center was enthusiastic about this collaboration stating the number of people tested far exceeded any previous health fair.
