In celebration of Earth Day, the Oregon Renewable Energy Center (OREC) announces its 4th annual Recycled Art Fair at Oregon Institute of Technology’s  Klamath Falls campus in the College Union. The fair will take place on Friday, April 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The Recycled Art Fair is a fun way to raise awareness about different ways to reuse materials, including those that may not be recyclable otherwise.  The Recycled Art Fair has inspired others to recycle not only because it is good for the environment, but it can also be a fun and interesting way to engage our community!

OREC is currently calling for submissions for the Recycled Art Fair.  Any piece of visual art for the art fair is accepted as long as the piece is made of recyclable materials such as:

  • Plastics and aluminum products
  • Newspaper, cardboard or other paper products
  • Electronics and old metals
  • Old clothing

Submissions will be divided into four categories: Grades K-7, Grades 8-12, Oregon Tech & KCC students, and General Community.  Submissions will be kept in the College Union building the night of April 12th and displayed during the fair on April 13th.  A registration fee of $3 is required for college students and general community to help cover costs of the event.  Certificates and prizes will be awarded for top pieces selected in each category.  Winners will be announced on Friday, April 13th at 12:30 p.m. in the College Union.

The deadline for submissions is April 9th. Pieces must be delivered to Oregon Tech’s College Union during the day on April 12th and must be picked up after the Art Fair on April 13th.
