Dr. Arief Suriadi Budiman, representing the Oregon Renewable Energy Center (OREC) and a faculty member at Oregon Tech, was recently featured in a PBS interview for the second episode of their series "Energy Horizons," titled “Solar Revolution.” This six-part series explores energy, climate change, and resource challenges, showcasing innovative solutions in Oregon. In his interview, Dr. Budiman shared insights on renewable energy and specifically highlighted the importance of photovoltaic (PV) technology. He emphasized how these technologies are crucial in tackling the energy and climate crises we face, both in the U.S. and in Oregon. Episode 2 dives into solar PV, showcasing two of OREC's groundbreaking research programs at Oregon Tech: the Crack Catcher AI, which addresses a major reliability issue with solar panels, and the AGRO-PV Dome, which presents creative solutions for the competition between agriculture and solar farming.
