Oregon Tech’s Geomatics program recently received a 2023 National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Surveying Education Award for $25,000! The award is a measure of a program’s success in inspiring its graduates to achieve their highest educational and professional aspirations. The NCEES Surveying Education Award recognizes surveying/geomatics programs that best reflect NCEES’ mission to advance licensure for surveyors to safeguard public health, safety, and welfare. Universities from across the U.S. applied and only 13 were awarded prizes from $25,000 to $10,000; Oregon Tech Geomatics was awarded the only $25,000 prize. Professor and Chair of the Department of Geomatics Jack Walker shared that to address the critical national shortage of licensed surveyors, this award program is intended to strengthen programs that best prepare graduates for licensure. This is the seventh year of the award program, and Oregon Tech Geomatics is one of two programs that have received an award each year. Congratulations, Geomatics, and thank you for preparing graduates for their careers!
