Arc sculpture highlights beauty of art and engineering outside Cornett Hall

As Oregon Tech faculty and students rejoin campus this September, workers put the finishing touches on a permanent art installation in the southwest corner of Cornett Hall.

Commissioned by the Oregon Arts Commission Percent for Art program, which allocates funds for art in public spaces, the piece titled “Fibonacci’s Arc” presents a striking feature at nearly 38-foot-tall of layered steel and completes the renovation of Oregon Tech’s Cornett Hall.

Dr. C.J. Riley Awarded ASCE Oregon 2021 Government Engineer of the Year

Dr. Charles “C.J.” Riley, professor of Civil Engineering at Oregon Tech, has been selected as the recipient of the 2021 American Society of Civil Engineers Oregon Section Government Engineer of the Year award.

ASCE’s criteria for Engineer of the Year is an active member of ASCE Oregon Section for 10 years and active in the engineering profession. The Government Engineer works for a public agency or university. Nominations cover areas of:

Oregon Tech Welcomes Students for Early Orientation

Oregon Tech welcomed 55 first-year students and nontraditional/transfer students to campus for pre-orientation programs focusing on support systems available and how to succeed at Oregon Tech during the 2021-22 academic year.

The early programs include First-Year Experience Flight School with Housing & Residence Life, SOAR with Student Involvement & Belonging (SIB), and Summer Bridge through the Tech Opportunities Program (TOP). Each program is geared toward a different group of students and focuses on areas of success for each of those groups.
