The facility is currently equipped with 3 manual knee mills, 3 manual engine lathes, a light duty CNC vertical mill, band saws, TIG welder, MIG welders, plasma cutter, multiple pedestal grinders, drill presses, granite surface plates, cordless hand tools, a large assortment of mechanics and electricians hand tools, compressed air tools, miter saw, table saw, sheet metal shear, sheet metal brake, sheet metal notcher and various measurement and layout tools.
There will be lab safety training available through Canvas soon that will be necessary for each individual student to utilize the equipment. The training will be broken up in two levels based on the complexity of the equipment.
Yellow card training is for hand tools and simple machines; (vertical and horizontal band saws, sheet metal tooling, abrasive cutting machines, pedestal grinders, drill presses, hand tools, precision measurement and layout tools and power hand tools).
Red card training requires passing Yellow card training and the successful completion of MFG 120. The training will cover preparation for machining operations as well as proper setup and operation of manual lathes and mills. Please contact lab staff for more information.
