The Financial Aid Office is committed to providing high-quality service to all students, their families, and the community. As part of that commitment, the office strives to provide information that is accurate, easy to understand and enables students to make decisions regarding educational funding.

2024-25 FAFSA Changes

The FAFSA Simplification Act was passed by Congress in 2020 and represents a significant overhaul of the processes and systems used to award federal student aid. This includes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, the need analysis that determines federal aid eligibility, changes in terminology, and many policies and procedures for schools that participate in federal student aid programs.

We apologize for the confusing and cumbersome process that has been created by the US Department of Education's changes to the 24-25 FAFSA application. This is a struggle for students, parents, and schools. Please try to be patient as we all await further guidance and updates from the US Department of Education. Oregon Tech will post updates here as we receive them.

The 2025 - 2026 FAFSA will hopefully be available in December 2024.

Aid Disbursement

Fall 2024

Financial aid will be disbursed to Oregon Tech student accounts beginning on September 23, 2024 if all Requirements for Aid Year on Web for Student have been completed by the student and processed by the Financial Aid Office. Once funds have been posted to student accounts, refunds will be processed by the Business Office. Any refunded amount will be forwarded for processing with BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc. through your selected refund preference.

Students need to be in at least six (6) credits to be eligible for most sources of financial aid, with some types of aid requiring full time enrollment of 12 or more credits.

*If you are at less than full-time status in any term, let the Financial Aid Office know. If your enrollment status is different than what your aid is set for, the release of your aid might be held.

Late Fees and Interest Charges

Late fees and interest will be charged to all student accounts (including students receiving financial aid and/or VA benefits) with unpaid balances after the payment due date (end of the second week of the term).  However, late fees do not apply to students on a payment plan who make all payments by the payment plan due dates.  For payment plan due dates, see the Cashier's Calendar here.  In the case of a student receiving VA benefits who has paid all non-VA covered charges by the payment due date (end of the second week of the term), the late fee and interest will be removed once payment that clears the balance is received as long as the certification deadline (end of the second week of the term) was met.  Contact the Cashier’s Office at cashier@oit.edu for help calculating amounts that will not be covered by the VA (please include which VA benefits you are expecting to receive).

Note: BankMobile Disbursements Refunds are handled through the Cashier's Office. Please contact them with any questions at 541.885.1202 or email us.

The Financial Aid Office is available Monday - Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, except major holidays.
