About Academic Affairs

The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs supports the faculty and curriculum of Oregon Institute of Technology. Academic programs from the School of Health, Arts and Sciences and School of Engineering, Technology and Management are supervised by the Provost in collaboration with the dean of each school and the Faculty Senate.

Professor Brad Burda is currently serving as Acting Provost and Interim Dean of the School of Health, Arts and Sciences. His immediate team also includes: Charlie Jones, Interim Dean of the School of Engineering, Technology and Management; Terri Armstrong, Interim Director of the Oregon Center for Health Professions; and Donna Bergmann, Executive Assistant.

In addition to working with OIT's faculty, the Provost's Office also supports the Oregon Renewable Energy Center and the Geo-Heat Center.

Biography

Brad Burda holds a M.S. in Physics from California State University Long Beach. He joined OIT in 1996 and taught Physics until 2007, when he was appointed Interim Dean of the School of Health, Arts, and Sciences. In 2008, Burda was also appointed Acting Provost. Prior to these two positions, he was Department Chair for the Natural Sciences Department, Chair of the Fiscal Operations and Advisory Council, Chair of the Curriculum Planning Commission, Chair of the Promotion Advisory Council, and a member of the Faculty Welfare Committee, the Salary and Compensation Committee, and the General Education Committee.

Biography

Donna Bergmann holds a M.Ed. and a M.S. in Public Relations from Montana State University-Billings and is ABD on her Ed.D. from Montana State University-Bozeman. Donna has more than 35 years working in education as faculty and in administration. After teaching for three years, she joined IBM Corporation as a Systems Engineer, where she retired in 1991. She then returned to her love of education and has worked in higher education ever since.
