Why did you choose Oregon Tech?

I came to Oregon Tech-Portland as a sophomore transfer student from my local University (University of Hawaii-Hilo) and picked Oregon Tech because I was interested in becoming an Engineer, but wasn’t ready to study the classical Engineering fields and was excited to enroll in the only college in the Nation offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Renewable Energy Engineering. Moving to Oregon from Hawaii may have seemed difficult, but now since living here for over three years I must say the location also influenced my decision in choosing Oregon Tech.

What do you like most about your major?

The Renewable Energy major was enjoyable to me because it offered a strong foundation in the other engineering field, but also allowed for me to use my imagination and creativity in investigating the different methods of harnessing renewable energy.

What would be your dream job in your major?

My dream job from this major would be a position in which I am able to utilize my education and inspiration to work out the most pressing engineering issues in expanding our capabilities to harness renewable energy.

What’s your favorite thing to do off campus?

Off campus in the summer I enjoy skateboarding the many skateparks in Oregon, hiking, camping, and floating rivers with friends. In the winters I like to snowboard, play dodge-ball (indoors), and watch sports.

What’s your most memorable moment on campus?

My most memorable moment on campus was the first time I got to see the new campus in Wilsonville and how exciting it was to be one of the first students to be able to use the new equipment there.
