OIT Student Services Overview
Student Services provides support services for students and faculty members through a variety of activities. The services provided make the division central to an essential goal as stated in the strategic plan: student success. Student Services coordinates both student and faculty success activities and champions a learning environment for students. It is at the heart of ongoing efforts to link OIT's teaching emphasis with its dedication to student learning, success, and retention.
The division's mission includes providing OIT students with the tools and services they need for academic and personal success. Programs include new student registration, learning communities, academic support services, academic training and workshops, academic advising, tutors and mentors, supplemental instruction, and academic success (ACAD) classes. Test proctoring and services for students with disabilities are also key services.
Student Service's function is crucial to student success and retention. OIT Student Services collaborates with many other campus entities to provide quality services and student input helps guide services and direction. Student input and demand drives the focus and direction of programs offered. All students are encouraged to ask for assistance and information as needed.
In particular, students are strongly advised to seek out available resources including their faculty and advisors, tutoring services, and other support functions of the University. Tutoring and other support services are key to college success.
