Distance Education offers REE 201, Introduction to Renewable Energy, as an online course to students at a distance who are interested in the emerging field of renewable energy.  This course is one of only two courses in the Renewable Energy Engineering program that are offered online.  The program is an on campus program only offered in Klamath Falls and Portland.

For more information about the Renewable Energy Engineering program, click here.

Please note that this course has a prerequisite of MATH 111 - College Algebra.  If you have not taken MATH 111 at OIT, please fax a copy of your schedule or unofficial transcript showing this course, to 541-885-1139, or email or send it as a pdf to de@oit.edu to verify you have met the prerequisite.  We are unable to register you in this course until we receive your transcript.

Details on the steps to enroll in REE 201 are listed below. If you have any problems in completing these steps, please email Diana.Evans@oit.edu, who is available to assist you during regular OIT business hours.

Apply for non-admit status at OIT

For the non-admit status, complete the Distance Ed Non-Admit Application and pay no application fees. This status allows you to take up to eight credit hours per term. The Distance Education Office will process your application, register you for REE 201, and send you an email confirmation.

Pay your tuition and fees

The tuition for REE 201 is $600 for the 2009-2010 academic year, plus a distance delivery fee of $60, for a total of $660. To avoid late fees, tuition must be received no later than the end of the second week of class. Payments should be sent directly to the Cashier's Office at 3201 Campus Drive, Klamath Falls OR 97601-8801. Please make your check payable to Oregon Institute of Technology, and be sure to include your student ID (included in your registration confirmation) on your check. For information on payment by credit card, please go to www.oit.edu/cashiers.

Once you are registered in REE 201, you are fully responsible for the tuition and fees. If you need to cancel your registration, please fax a signed request to Distance Ed at (541) 885-1139, or email de@oit.edu.

To receive a 100% refund, you must drop your course(s) before the fifth calendar day of the term (Friday) at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. If you drop your course(s) after this time, you will receive a partial refund according to the OIT refund schedule. For additional information, please see the Financial Matters menu item under the Distance Ed web site.

Purchase your textbook and materials

Visit the Paper Owl Bookstore on the OIT web site to purchase your books and materials online. The book store web site has a special section for Distance Ed, where you can find your REE 201 course and see what you will need to purchase. You'll want to have your books and materials in hand before the class begins.

Login to REE 201 on the first day of the term

On the first day of the term, login to your class on Blackboard CE (formerly called WebCT) after 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time. It's a good idea to bookmark the Blackboard CE login page so that you can always access it if OIT's web site is ever offline.

You should have received information about logging into Blackboard CE (including your Blackboard CE user name and password) by email at the address you indicated on your application. If you have not received this Blackboard CE login information by the first day of the term, email helpdesk@oit.edu or call (541) 885-1470 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, for assistance.
