OIT students, staff, and faculty and KCC students, staff and faculty have access to materials from other libraries throughout the world through our interlibrary loan service. Photocopies or loans of books and other items can usually be retrieved at no charge within 1-2 weeks.
There are three ways in which you can ask the library to request material from elsewhere:
1. Requests can be made from any computer with internet access by filling in one of the ILL electronic request forms located below.
Interlibrary Loan Article request form
Interlibrary Loan Book Request Form
2. Requests can be made from within any database that offers an email option. When viewing an individual title, click on the Email icon to send the citation to the Access Services Technician. Send the citation to ill@oit.edu. On the subject line, put your name, your phone number, and your status (OIT faculty, KCC student, etc.)
3. ILL Requests can be made directly through "OCLC FirstSearch" databases. When viewing an individual title click on the "ILL" icon to start the request process and proceed by following the instructions given.
* Items requested will be received faster if all of the following information is given.
For journal articles: the name of the journal/source, author, article title, vol. #, date, and pages of the article (citation). Always include your name and local phone number.
For book requests: include the books title, author and date of publication and your name and local phone number.
