Citing Sources


The following information is provided as a convenience to OIT students.

It is important is to make sure and give credit when using others' ideas or words in your work.  Check with your instructor if you are uncertain as to which style guide is recommended for your particular class assignment.   For more information on when to cite, see our page on Avoiding Plagiarism.

The latest print edition (1993) of the Chicago Manual of Style doesn't address many electronic formats, and the MLA manual (1998) covers some but not all of the latest formats. So the Electronic Reference Formats Recommended by the American Psychological Association (APA) can be adapted to other styles if Web sites or some other format hasn't been covered yet in the style manual that your're using.
