Assistant Professor, Software Engineering Technology


The Computer Systems Engineering Technology (CSET) Department at Oregon Institute of Technology invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position in Software Engineering Technology (SET). Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Oregon Tech’s faculty salaries are competitive with our comparator institutions.

The SET program prepares students for a future in designing and implementing large scale enterprise applications. In addition, it provides a solid understanding of object oriented analysis and design, software testing, design patterns, data structures, operating systems, and compiler methods. 

Primary responsibilities include developing courses and teaching lecture and laboratory classes. Other responsibilities include advising undergraduate students, directing senior projects, securing grant funding and pursuing professional development.

The CSET department has 12 faculty members and about 300 students in all of its programs.  We take pride in maintaining a collaborative and collegial work environment and providing a close community for our students.  CSET is a family.  A successful candidate must demonstrate willingness to collaborate.  

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Computer Science (Ph.D. preferred), Software Engineering, or a closely related field and three years of industrial software development experience.  Prior teaching experience is desirable.

Applicants should have expertise and experience in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, agile development methodology, software project management, software design, software maintenance, software quality assurance, software testing, and solid programming background in C++. Additional skills in the areas of operating system development and parallel processing would be a plus.
