Student File Privacy Information

Oregon Tech is committed to the privacy of our students, and the Oregon Tech Privacy Policy reflects this commitment by complying with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) - sometimes referred to as the Buckley Amendment - which establishes students' rights and institutions' responsibilities regarding the privacy of education records. It provides guidelines for maintaining the confidentiality of education records and monitoring the release of information from those records.

For additional information, see the Oregon Tech Privacy Policy, or the U.S. Department of Education FERPAwebsite.

Under FERPA, a student's financial records are confidential. In order for Oregon Tech to provide eBills or other CASHNet® access to a third party (such as a parent, a grandparent, or a guardian) the student must establish them as a Benefactor in CASHNet®. Benefactors receive the same email notifications (to the email address set up by the student and indicated in your Benefactor login information) that a student receives each month and can access eBills by clicking on the link provided in the email. Benefactors can also view the student's current balance, and any activity that has happened since the last eBill by logging in to CASHNet®.

Please note that Benefactor access does not provide you access to student financial information (or any other information) by any means other than CASHNet®. If you require information directly from the university your student will have to provide the university with a File Authorization Form on your behalf. For additional information regarding the File Authorization Form, please contact the Registrar's Office at registra@oit.edu or by calling (541) 885.1300.

CASHNet® Benefactor Login

Benefactors will access CASHNet® through the link provided in their email notificaiton, or on the web by visiting CASHNet® Benefactor. If the link does not work in your browser, go to the CASHNet® Student site, and click on the "Click here for Benefactor Login" link to the right of the login box.

Please bookmark the page for future reference, as you can access CASHNet® between eBill statements and view your student's Recent Activity, or see your student's current account balance.

If you forget your username and/or password, you will need to contact your student to obtain your username, or have your password reset. Oregon Tech does not have access to Benefactor username or password information, so we do not have the ability to retrieve your username or reset your password in our office.

Payment Options

CASHNet® Electronic Payment Options

ePayment

Electronic payments made from a checking or savings account are accepted through CASHNet® using a bank account located in the United States. You will need your account's routing number in addition to the bank account number (both can be found on the bottom of your check in the case of a checking account). Please contact your bank or credit union if you need additional help determining these numbers.

Debit cards cannot be used with this payment method.

If you attempt to use a debit card number with this payment method it will not process correctly, and you will be assessed a returned item fee of $25.

Credit or Debit Cards

Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express payments can be made through CASHNet®

Oregon Tech has contracted with CASHNet® to provide Benefactors the ability to make credit and debit card payments online. There is a 2.75% convenience fee for credit and debit card transactions that will be added to your payment once it is processed. The convenience fee is non-refundable, even if the payment to which it relates is cancelled, refunded, credited, or charged back.

Payments made by debit card are treated as credit card payments, so they are also subject to the 2.75% convenience fee.

Online credit card payments are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
