KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech Freshman Jackie Gardner scored twice and Rebeka Nisbet scored and assisted on another goal in leading the Owls past Simpson University 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Trevor Derrah Filed at Steen Sports Park. The Owls improve to 3-3-1 on the season with the shut-out victory. The Red Hawks remain winless in 2013 falling to 0-7.
Garner put the home team up 1-0 in the 11th minute taking a perfect cross from Kayla Campbell and scoring from 5 yards out.
Tech dominated play in the first half taking 22 shots to only 5 for Simpson but the Owls only managed to score the one goal taking the 1-0 lead into the half.
Christianna Newell gave the Tech a 2-0 lead as she took a cross from Alisha Miyashiro and scored from 10 yards out in the 50th minute.
Garner added her second goal of the day and fourth of the season in the 61st minute taking a long pass from Nisbet and scoring in the back of the net.
Nisbet finished off the Red Hawks just two minutes later as she dribbled past two defenders and scored past the keeper from 20 yards out giving OIT the 4-0 win.
For the game Tech out-shot Simpson 38-8 and also held a 20-3 advantage in shot on goal.
Oregon Tech will next play at Southern Oregon University in a non-conference game on Saturday, September 28th at 1:00 pm in Ashland, Ore.
