KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. --The Wildcats scored three goals in the first nine minutes of play and cruised to 4-0 non-conference win over host Oregon Tech. Linfield moves to 3-0 with the win with Oregon Tech slipping to 2-3-1 with the loss.
Emily Fellows notched the first two goals within the first nine minutes of the opening whistle, Marisa Specht added a third just 9:08 into the match and Jessie Hargett added a fourth in the 62nd minute as Linfield rolled to a 4-0 win.
Against the Owls, the Wildcats cashed in on just their second attempt of the game on Fellows' unassisted goal from about 10 yards out. The junior doubled Linfield’s lead in the ninth minute, heading in a clean assist from Molly McCool.
Specht followed up almost immediately, receiving a pass from Ellie Schmidt and finished right in front of the Oregon Tech goal giving the Cats a 3-0 lead.
The Wildcats kept Oregon Tech’s Rebekah Matteri on her toes the rest of the half, forcing the keeper into making five more saves, totaling 17 for the game.
Offensively, the Owls had nothing to contribute until the second stanza, when a pair of successive corner kicks and shots from Rebekah Nisbet within the first three minutes of action still yielded no results.
Hargett re-entered the match in the 61st minute, and earned her first career collegiate goal just 41 seconds later. The junior midfielder scored from about 25 yards out. Giving Linfield the 4-0 win.
The Wildcats had a 30-6 advantage in shots and a 21 to 3 advantage in shots on goal as they controlled possession for most of the match.
Oregon Tech will try to bounce back this Saturday, September 14 as they host Simpson University at 3:30 pm part of a double-header with the Oregon Tech men hosting George Fox at 1:00 pm. Both games will be played at Steen Sports Park.
