Rocklin, Calif. – The Oregon Tech women’s soccer team scored two first half goals and played stellar defense in picking up its first shut-out of the year with a 2-0 win over William Jessup University. Oregon Tech improves to 2-1 on the season with the win and will next travel to Salt Lake City, Utah for a pair of games against Westminster College and Midland University this Friday and Saturday.
It didn’t take long for the Hustlin’ Owls to get on the scoreboard as Rebekah Nisbet sent a perfect corner kick in front of the Warrior goal, Tech’s Jackie Gardner volleyed the ball to the back of the net for what would eventually be the game winner in the 11th minute it was her second goal of the season.
Nisbet also scored her second goal of the season, in the 30 minute as she took a free ball, dribbled past a defender and scored a long blistering shot from 30 yards away giving OIT the 2-0 lead.
Oregon Tech Keeper Rebekah Matteri notched her first shut-out of the young season playing brilliantly between the pipes as she was credited with 8 saves, 6 coming in the second half.
For the game, William Jessup took 17 shots to Tech’s 11 with the Warriors also holding a slight edge in shots on goal at 8-7.
