KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech women’s soccer team picked up their first victory of the 2013 season with a 4-1 win over Bethesda University today at Trevor Derrah Field at the Steen Sports Complex in Klamath Falls. The win evens Tech’s record at 1-1.
It didn’t take long for Tech to get on the board as Rebekah Nisbet notched the Owls’ first goal of the season less than a minute into the contest. Nisbet worked her way around both a defender and the keeper and made it 1-0 after she hit one into an empty net.
Bailey Tehan would dribble her way past two defenders and found the back of the net in what would eventually become the game winner as the Owls moved up 2-0 at the 21:54 mark. Freshman Jackie Gardner, on a penalty kick just three minutes later, gave the Owls a 3-0 lead 25 minutes in with the score remaining the same into intermission.
The Owls moved up 4-0 on Bethesda as Nisbet recorded an assist after Hanna Gil took the cross and found the left side of the goal on a corner kick.
Bethesda punched in their only score at the 76:05 mark when a direct kick from Aidee Alcala from 25 yards out sailed over the head of Tech keeper Rebekah Matteri to make it a 4-1 game.
Matteri would record three saves in the game with the Owls outshooting their opponent 23-6.
Oregon Tech will head to William Jessup University on Tuesday, September 3rd before taking on Westminster University and Midland University in a pair of games played in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 6th and 7th.
