Lady Owls Win Overtime Thriller 2-1

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) – In a battle of two, 3-1 Conference teams fighting for a home playoff game, it was Oregon Tech’s Meghan Drost scoring the “Golden Goal” one minute and 47 seconds into the first overtime lifting Tech to the win 2-1. Oregon Tech improves to 4-1 in CCC play and 6-4 on the season with the win. Northwest Christian Slips to 3-2 in CCC play and 5-6-2 on the season with the loss.

Northwest Christian was first on the scoreboard in the 33rd minute as Katelyn Partridge took a hard shot from 15 yards out, that shot was saved by Tech’s Keeper but the ball came right back to Partridge who did not miss on her second attempt, scoring in the upper right of the goal to give the Beacons the 1-0 lead, a lead that would hold into the halftime break.

The second half got a little physical as each team was whistled for 2 yellow cards with a total of 13 fouls being called in the second period alone.

Oregon Tech would tie the game in the 78th minute when Lisel Frazer chipped in a shot from 8 yards out on a text book cross from Meghan Drost making it a 1-1 score that would hold to the end of regulation.


The Hustlin’ Owls ended the game quickly just under two minutes into the overtime when Drost took a Jacque Wood pass and scored from 5 yard out right in front of the Northwest Christian goal.

Oregon Tech’s Rebekah Matteri picked up the win as she was credited with 6 saves in the box on the afternoon.

Oregon Tech out shot NCU 14-13 for the game with each team having 7 shots on goal.

The Lady Owls will next host Corban University (7-5, 2-2 CCC) Saturday night, October 13 at 6:00 pm at Trevor Derrah Field in Klamath Falls, Ore. Northwest Christian will next travel over to Ashland, Ore. and play Southern Oregon University (6-4-2, 2-1-1 CCC) at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 14.
