(Redding, Calif.) - - Five second half goals lifted Oregon Tech women’s soccer team past Simpson University Wednesday afternoon at the Redding Soccer Park. Oregon Tech improves to 2-1 with the win as the Red Hawks fall to 0-3 with the loss.
Oregon Tech dominated ball control in the first half holding a huge edge in total shots 11-3 but could not find the net despite several opportunities as the teams went to the half tied at 0-0.
Just one minute into the second half the Owls got on the scoreboard as Rebekah Nisbet took a pass from Meghan Drost and scored in the upper left of the goal from the15 yards out to give Tech the 1-0 lead.
Tech’s Hayley Smith then scored from 20 yards out to give OIT a 2-0 lead.
Meghan Drost then put the game away as she took a loose ball and scored from 25 yards out on a bullet to the upper left giving Tech the 3-0 lead in the 67th minute.
Tech’s Hanna Gil then made it a 4-0 game, as she scored on a loose ball from 10 yards out in the 72nd minute.
Simpson got on the board in the 78th minute as Nicole Goens scored from 12 yards out to make it a 4-1 game.
Tech’s Smith then wrapped up the scoring, netting her second of the game, as she scored in the 82nd minute as Tech won 5-1.
Oregon Tech will next travel to Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore. on Sunday, September 9th at Noon before hosting Trinity Lutheran on September 17th in its home opener at Steen Sports Park at 7:00 pm
