11.05.2009 - Lady Owls Battle, Fall 65-60

Junior forward Crystal Idrogo scored 17-consecutive points for the Owls in the second half, on her way to a game-high 20. Oregon Tech (1-1) fell 65-60 to Cal State Stanislaus.

TURLOCK, Calif. - The Oregon Tech women's basketball team suffered a 65-60 defeat to NCAA II Cal State Stanislaus on the first road trip of the season. The Lady Owls are 1-1 overall, while it was an exhibition game for the Warriors.

Oregon Tech took an early 8-7 lead to begin the contest. Kellie Morey gave the Owls a four point lead on a 3-point field goal with 13:09 on the clock and Aundrea Albright would give Tech their largest lead of the first half, 17-12, on a layup with just over 11 minutes to go in the opening stanza.

A Warrior 12-2 run then gave the home team a 24-19 edge. A Lady Owl 5-0 run, capped off by a Colleen Hunt trey would tie the game at 24-24 at the 5:24 mark. A 9-2 Warrior spurt put the Owls down seven points before Tech's Lisa Busch hit the last basket of the half, from long range, to cut the Owl deficit to 33-29 at intermission.

Cal State Stanislaus got off to a quick start to begin the second half, taking a 43-32 advantage with 16:34 to play.

Tech's Crystal Idrogo then stole the show, igniting the Owls to a 15-2 run, including 12-straight points to pull the Owls to within two at 47-45 with 10:34 remaining. Idrogo would make it 15-straight, scoring three more points, as the Owls trailed by the score of 52-49 at the 8:37 mark.

Tech then went on a dry spell, as the Warriors reeled off five-straight before Idrogo connected on her 17th straight point to pull the Owls to within six points, 57-51, with 4:51 remaining.

An Albright layup would cut the Owl deficit to 57-53, but another five point run put the Warriors up 62-53 with only 1:30 left to play. A 7-1 Tech run, including back-to-back free throws from Morey, a 3-pointer by Kelsey New and two more free throw from Morey, cut the score to 63-60 with 11 seconds on the clock. The Owls could get no closer, however, as the Warriors would ice the game on their two free throw attempts, as Tech fell by the final score of 65-60.

Idrogo finished with 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor and 8-for-9 from the charity stripe to go with five rebounds. Morey added 12 points and grabbed five rebounds, followed by 10 points from Albright. Lisa Busch netted nine points, while Brittany Cherry finished with a team-high seven rebounds.
