KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Concordia University (14-4-0, 11-3-0 CCC) scored once in the first half to down Oregon Tech (6-12-0, 5-9-0 CCC) 1-0, Saturday afternoon in a Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup on Trevor Derrah Field at Steen Sports Park.
Radcliff McDougal scored the one and only goal in the 33rd minute. His ball came from a deflection by senior keeper Loren Jessen after he saved shot, shot by Kevin Fisher. McDougal’s shot came from in the box at 5 yards.
The game ended the college careers for Oregon Tech seniors Ashton Betts, Loren Jessen and Jimmie Hernandez.
Concordia will now prepare for the semifinals of the CCC Championship presented by U.S. Bank when it travels to face Northwest University on Nov. 12 in a matchup of the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. Both teams finished with identical 11-3-0, but Northwest earned the tiebreaker after posting two wins against the Cavs this season.
Concordia tallied 19 shots in the contest but connected on just one occasion, a 33rd-minute strike by McDougald. McDougald collected a deflection off OIT keeper Loren Jessen and easily put in the eventual game-winner from five yards out.
