Two from Diamond, Two from Links Named NAIA Scholar-Athlete

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A total of four student-athletes from both the Oregon Tech baseball and golf squads were named 2014 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, announced recently by the national office.

Two Tech baseball athletes earned the academic honors, including Ryan Hayden (Grants Pass, Ore.) and Ryan Grant (Oregon City, Ore.) with Tyler Dearing (Klamath Falls, Ore.) earning the award from the men’s golf team and Mallory Rose (Coos Bay, Ore.) from the women’s golf team. Hayden became a two-time honoree having made the list last year.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
