CHICO, Calif. – Oregon Tech’s Joelle Swanson and Paul Adams dominated their events leading their respective squads to top 4 finishes Saturday at the Wildcat Invitational at University Stadium.
The Tech women notched 41.5 total points, good for third place in the team standings in a field of nine teams.
Joelle Swanson bested a field of 19 javelin competitors by nearly 16 feet taking top honors with a throw of 143-01. Shannelle Cayetano tied for third in the javelin with a height of 11-01.75. The trio of Rhonda Costin, Sara Howard and Elissa Stolz went 2-4-5 in the 5K to help gather 17 total points on the day.
The Owl men’s side finished the day with 46 total points, placing 4th in a field of 12 teams, led by a 1-2-4 finish in the 5K.
Paul Adams topped the field in the 5K with a time of 15:50.92. Scott Minor followed in 15:58.71 with Kirby Garlitz crossing in 16:23.51. Anthony Padilla went 13-07.75 in the pole vault placing third in the event.
Both teams next head to La Grande to compete in the Eastern Oregon Team Challenge this Saturday March, 22nd beginning at 9 a.m.
