KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech improved to 4-0 in Cascade Conference play and 11-5 on the year with a sweep of Northwest Christian University (2-12, 1-3 CCC) on Saturday afternoon at the Oregon Tech Softball Complex. Alyssa Davis powered the Owls past the Beacons in game 1 as she had 4 of Tech’s 16 hits including her 2nd homerun of the season as OIT won 15-7. Jessi Duncan continued her mastery in the circle for Oregon Tech in game 2 as she threw her fourth consecutive shut-out, holding the Beacons to only 2-hits as she improved to 5-2 on the season with the 5-inning rule 9-0 win.
In game 1 – Oregon Tech opened up with 4-runs on 4-hits in the bottom of the 1st to take a commanding 4-0 lead. NCU would answer in the top of the 3rd, scoring 4-runs on 5-hits and tying the game at 4-4. Tech put up another 4-runs in the bottom of the 3rd on 5-hits highlighted by a Tasha Silvius 2-run double as the Owls went back up 8-4. The Beacons made it an 8-7 game in the top of the 5th inning scoring 3-runs on 3-hits. In the bottom of the 5th Oregon Tech went up 12-7 on a McKenzie Shrum 3-run homerun. With 1-out and 2-runners on base Tech’s Alyssa Davis would pick up her 4th hit in 4 at-bats as she hit her own 3-run homerun to give OIT the 15-7 5-inning rule win.
Cassidy Olson picked up the win improving to 5-3 in the circle for Oregon Tech with Sarah Lawhorn picking up the loss for NCU.
In game 2 – Oregon Tech scored 9-runs on 10 hits highlighted by homeruns by Tori Weatherford (3) and Kayla Prock (1). Tech’s Duncan improved to 5-2 on the season in the circle, giving up just 2-hits in 4-innings of work.
No. 25 Oregon Tech will host No. 18 College of Idaho (12-4, 4-0 CCC) next Friday at 2:00 pm and Eastern Oregon (4-4, 1-3 CCC) next Saturday at 11:00 am at the OIT Softball Complex.
