Padilla Wins Decathlon at Chico Multi’s, sets new PR

CHICO, Calif. – Oregon Tech sophomore decathlete Anthony Padilla sat in second place after day 1 and came back on day 2 of the Chico State Multi Classic in his first meet of the season to win the “B” decathlon today at University Stadium.

Padilla’s point total of 5790 was a new personal record and now ranks No. 9 on the all-time list at Oregon Tech. 

Padilla’s top-finish on day 1 was in the shot put with a throw of 34-05.75 feet to outdistance the field of 11 competitors.  Padilla placed second in the long jump at 6.24 meters with a time of 12.09 in the 100 meter race, went 5-10 in the high jump and turned in a 400 meter time of 55.03.

Day 2 events for Padilla in the 1500 meters was 4:55.62 with a throw in the javelin coming in at 145-07.  Padilla went 13-03 in the pole vault, tossed the discus 89-00 and finished the 110 hurdles in 16.62.
