No. 25 Oregon Tech Settles for Split on Day 2 of Northwest Cup

CLACKAMAS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech softball team split a pair of games on day 2 of the Northwest Cup, picking up a 5-3 win in game 1 versus University of British Columbia while falling 8-5 in the nightcap to St. Martin’s University.

Game 1 – Rylee Carleton pitched a complete game to pick up her first win in the circle on the season.  Tori Weatherford continued with a hot bat, driving in two runs on a single with McKenzie Shrum recording two hits and RBI in the win.

Game 2 – Tech scored two in the first inning but would trail 8-2 after St. Martin’s recorded four runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings.  Tech was able to close to 8-5 after a three run fifth, but couldn’t get any closes as the Owls fell to 2-2 on the season.

Cassidy Olson earned the loss in a complete game performance allowing four hits and six earned runs.  Olson struck out three and walked four.  Tre Sullivan doubled and Shauna Collins added her first long ball of the season.  McKenzie Shrum and Tori Weatherford added a pair of hits in game 2.

Weather permitting the Owls will close out the Northwest Cup on Sunday with games versus Simpson University and Pacific Lutheran University.
