KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Scott Minor and Kirby Garlitz went 1-2, while Sara Howard was the top Owl finisher this Saturday, in a race with 876 total participants, as the men’s pair qualified for the NAIA National Championships in the first ½ marathon of the 2014 season.
Minor’s time of 1:11.26.9 is a new school-record at Oregon Tech, breaking Garlitzs’ school-record from last year at the same race. Garlitz crossed in 1:11.44.0, both exceeding the NAIA national A qualifying time of 1:13:00.0.
In the first year that Tech has taken the women to the Davis Stampede both Sara Howard and Rhonda Costin placed 6th and 8th respectively. Kayla Parsons finished 13th. Howard’s time of 1:33:53.4 is a new school-record, missing the B qualifying time by just 53 seconds. Costin crossed in 1:34:01.6 followed by Parsons in 1:36:37.8.
Tech’s men and women will next head to the Chico Multi Event on February 27th and 28th.
