Oregon Tech Improves to No. 19 in NAIA Women’s Basketball Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After taking down rival Southern Oregon University last week on the road in Ashland, the Oregon Tech women’s basketball team bumped up one spot to claim the No. 19 position in the fifth regular-season edition of the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday.

Oregon Tech will look to retain, or gain some in next week’s poll, but will have to get by No. 14 Eastern Oregon University and The College of Idaho this Friday and Saturday with games at Danny Miles Court to do so.  Tech is currently 18-3 overall with two of their losses coming against this week’s opponents on the road in December.

Saint Francis (Ind.), which is making its fourth-straight appearance at No. 1, reclaims sole possession of the top spot in this week’s poll.  The Cougars received eight first-place votes and 339 total points en route to their 16th all-time appearance at No. 1 dating back to the 1999-2000 season.   The Cougars are a NAIA-best 20-0 overall and 8-0 in their conference.   Jamestown (N.D.) and Davenport (Mich.), which both boast 18-1 overall records this season, are tied at No. 3 with 314 points each. Rounding out the top five for the third-straight edition is No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan with 298 points.
