ASHLAND, Ore. – Karly Leveque scored the game’s first 13 points and Oregon Tech ran their record to 9-0 with a 77-39 victory over New Hope Christian in women’s basketball action today at the Flagship Inn Classic this afternoon in Ashland.
Oregon Tech held NHC to just 22.7% from the field (10-for-44), including just three second half baskets. Meanwhile, the Owls shot 41.8% from the field (28-of-67) and held a 47-31 advantage on the boards.
Karissa Dixon knocked down a game-high 17 points with Kassi Conditt recording a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Tess Armstrong added 14 points with Leveque getting all her points in the first four minutes of play.
Behind Leveque’s 13 point spurt, Tech led 13-0 with 16:10 on the clock. NHC would close the gap to six points with the Owls regaining a double digit lead after a Dixon steal and Armstrong layup. The Owls would lead by as many as 18 points, 32-14, with 4:23 remaining in the half, but after going scoreless the remainder of the period, NHC closed to within 32-20 at the half.
A 16-0 Tech run to start the second period pushed the lead to 48-20 and Tech would cruise to the 77-39 win. The final 38 point margin was the largest of the game.
The Owls host NW Indian College on Monday at Noon, before beginning Cascade Conference play Friday and Saturday at Danny Miles Court versus Warner Pacific and Concordia. Both games tip at 5:30 PM.
