ASHLAND, Ore. – Karly Leveque scored on the opening tip and Oregon Tech ran away from Northwest Indian College in game 1 of the Flagship Inn Classic hosted by Southern Oregon University this afternoon in Ashland by a 105-38 final.
Oregon Tech shot 56.7% from the floor, including a 12-for-20 effort from long range. Ashleigh Vandenbrink hit 6-of-7 from beyond the arch to go for a game-high 20 points to lead the Owls. Tess Armstrong added 15 points with Kiana Caban chipping in 11 points. Mckensey Peters and Kassi Conditt notched 10 points each in the win.
The Owls cruised to a 51-21 halftime lead, holding the Eagles to just seven field goals in the opening period.
Tech would use a 24-0 run to open the second half and never look back. The Owl bench outscored NWIC by a 76-13 count on the way to a 105-38 rout.
Of the Owls’ 34 baskets, Tech would record 30 assists turning it over 11 times for the game. The Owls held a decisive 37-24 edge in rebounding and held the Eagles to 27.3% shooting for the game (12-for-44).
Oregon Tech will next play New Hope Christian to open day 2 of the Flagship Inn Classic Saturday at 1:30 PM.
