Oregon Tech Men Pre-Season No.21 in Nation, Women Receive Votes in Top 25 Poll

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) – After earning the Cascade Conference third spot, Oregon Tech men rank at the No. 21 spot in the 2013-14 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll. The Oregon Tech women who also earned the Cascade Conference third spot in the CCC Pre-Season Poll received votes in the NAIA D II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll released today by the National Office. With both the Oregon Tech men and women getting votes in this 2013-14 preseason poll, it marks the first time since the 2005-06 preseason poll that both teams had votes to open the new season.

After winning its first-ever national championship, Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) boasts the No. 1 ranking in the Men’s Poll. The Wolves went 35-3 last year and now hold the top position for the fourth time in its history. Cardinal Stritch captured 13-of-14 first-place nods and 374 total points. Indiana Wesleyan, a team to advance to the 2013 National Championship Second Round, improves to No. 2 in the poll with No. 3 Embry-Riddle (Fla.), who was the biggest mover within the Top 25, improved 14 spots from the Postseason Poll. Receiving the remaining first-place vote, Southern Oregon climbs up to No. 4 this is the first top-five position for the Raiders since a No. 3 ranking on Jan. 25, 2006. Joining SOU and OIT in the Top 25 from the Cascade Conference is Warner Pacific at No. 12.
Men's Top 25

In the Women’s Poll, defending national champion Indiana Wesleyan sits atop the Preseason Top 25 Poll. The Wildcats received all 13 first place votes to earn their ninth No. 1 ranking over the past 10 polls. From the Cascade Conference, College of Idaho is the highest ranked at No. 13 with Eastern Oregon at No.18 followed by OIT in the received vote’s category.

Women's Top 25 Poll

The Oregon Tech men will kick off the 2013-14 season this Sunday, November 3, at 5:00 pm at Danny Miles Court against Pacific Union College. The Oregon Tech women will have their home opener as part of double-header with the men on Tuesday, November 12th against Simpson University at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
