Oregon Tech Men Defeat NCU in Dual

SPRINGFIELD – In a battle of nationally ranked men’s cross country teams, Oregon Tech eked out a 26-29 victory over Northwest Christian at Dorris Ranch Saturday morning.

Paul Adams led the 19th-ranked Hustlin’ Owls to the win with his fourth victory this season, and, in process, defeated a former high school rival in NCU’s Alek Angeli.

Adams, from Mazama High, won the men’s 8,000-meter race in25 minutes, 45.2 seconds, with Angeli, graduated from Klamath Union, second in 26:05.7.

Dakotah Webb was third, Jack Roberts fifth and Kirby Garlitz seventh for the Owls, who claimed their win in the second in a series o dual meets between the two Cascade Collegiate Conference foes.

NCU entered the meet ranked 23rd.

In the women’s race, the Beacons claimed the first seven positions to score a perfect 15 in their dual with OIT, led by Allison Duvenez, who covered the 5K course in 18:13.2.

Mary Matchett was eighth to lead OIT, and Rhonda Costin ninth. Matchett was timed in 19:19.1.

NCU’s women’s team is ranked No. 15 in the country among all NAIA women’s cross country teams.
