ASHLAND- Oregon Tech was unable to upend Southern Oregon University in Cascade
Conference play, as the Owls fell to the Raiders 3-1, 25-20, 25-18,
21-25, 25-12 tonight at Bob Riehm Arena in Ashland.
Marlee Smith and Kelsey Sampson combined for 23 kills, but it wasn’t enough to get by the balanced attack of SOU as four Raiders finished with double digit kills in the loss for Tech. SOU attacked at a .218 average to the Owls’ .124, while also recording 11 aces against Tech. The Raiders now hold a 31-1 advantage against the Owls (11-13, 4-6) dating back to 2002.
Smith led Tech with 12 kills with Sampson recording a double-double with 11 kills and a team-high 15 digs in the loss. Kayleigh Whelchel finished with 24 assists and Marie Baumann 13 digs in the contest.
Oregon Tech next takes on Corban and Northwest University this Friday and Saturday at Danny Miles Court.
