KLAMATH FALLS, Ore, – Oregon Tech’s Jimmie Hernandez scored twice in the first half as the Hustlin’ Owls knocked off Northwest Christian University 2-0 Tuesday night at Trevor Derrah Field at Steen Sports Park. The Hustlin’ Owls evened their Conference record at 2-2 and improved to 3-5-0 on the season with the win. The Beacons fell to 0-5 in CCC play and 0-9 overall with the loss.
In the 11th minute Tech’s Colton Grytness deflected shot was scored collected by Hernandez and finished in the lower left of the Beacons goal from 7 yards out; it was Hernandez’s first goal of the season.
Just six minutes later, Hernandez was at it again, this time taking a long Ashton Betts cross and scored from the right side from 5 yards out.
Both teams had opportunities during the remaining 72 minutes of play but both defenses prevailed, not allowing any scores for the rest of the game. Each keeper was credited with four saves for their respective teams.
For the game, Northwest Christian out shot Oregon Tech 20 to 16, with Tech holding a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. Tech’s Loren Jessen picked up the shut out win for Oregon Tech.
Oregon Tech will next play host to Northwest University on Friday, October 4th, at 5:00 p.m. at Steen Sports Park.
